On the 25th of July, 2026, at 13:00 BST, I will be setting off on my round the world bicycle trip – the Wheely Big Bike Trip. I had initially planned to leave in June (then May), 2027. However, I’ve now decided to leave earlier! This is a trip I’ve been planning for many, many years.
I will spend the first couple of weeks cycling Dover, before crossing the English Channel to Calais. I will then spend the next six to seven months cycling through Europe, where I then plan to spend new year’s eve in Istabul. After crossing over into Asian Türkiye, I will then head south for the winter, hopefully making a quick trip over to Rhodes while I’m down there. The next year and a bit will be spent cycling through the Stans, China, and south east Asia. After 1.5-2 years, I’ll fly from Singapore to Perth and cycle across Australia. Then it’s through the Americas, Africa, and then back through Spain, Portugal, France, before completing my route through Ireland and the UK. I plan to finish on the 25th of July, 2034, ending where I started from – St. Peter’s Square, Manchester.

First of all, I’m doing it for fun. 🙂 Back in 2017 (after a failed attempt in 2016), I tried out cycle touring for the first time, by cycling to Melbourne. I loved it. I’ve had a few bicycle tours since – some succeeded, some failed. But I’ve learnt from every attempt, regardless of success or failure. The world is out there to see!
Secondly, I’ll be cycling for FightMND.
- FightMND. FightMND is an Australian foundation at the forefront of funding research into finding a cure of Motor Neurone Disease (MND), also known as Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It is a degenerative disease which attacks the neurones (nerve cells) that control muscles that allow us to move around, swallow and even breath. It’s a terminal disease for which there is currently no cure. There are also no truly effective treatments. There is a cure out there, but it has to be found. To do that, money is always required to fund the necessary research.
How can I follow along?
I plan to do various live streams throughout the trip, which will be available via YouTube. You can also follow me on my social media accounts.
How do I donate?
Easy! Just click the link at the top of the page, labelled ‘DONATION LINKS.’ There, I have a QR code (which is also hyperlinked to the donation page). This allows full transparency, where I won’t have to handle any cash.
“What if I want to support you directly?”
This can be done directly via my PayPal account.
Can’t wait!
As I previously said, I’ve been planning this for a very long time – since late 2014, in fact! How did I come up with the idea? I visited a travel expo at Sydney Town Hall, at the end of 2014. I was wondering around and came across a chap named Jeremy Scott, selling his new book – he’d just recently finished cycling from London to Auckland. After hearing him talk about it, and answering my own questions, I decided – why not do something like that myself? And that’s how it all started.
